Douglas Fisher Obituary

Former co-owner and chef of Pondo's Restaurant Douglas Fisher passed away on the eve of Dec. 28, 2020.
Doug is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia; their son, Dwayne; two grandchildren, Dylan and Brandon Williams; son-in-law Chuck Williams Jr.; countless nieces and nephews; and his three sisters, Rita, Drusilla and Christine.
Doug was born in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, and attended Penn State College.
He later met his wife-to-be while working at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida.
Life took them to Tallahassee, where they birthed their first child, Alison, who preceded him in death.
Afterward, Doug began his career and worked for Holiday Inn as an innkeeper through the Mississippi Management Corp. for 17 years.
Leaving his nomad life behind, he returned to Florida, moving to DeLand.
The Fisher family opened and operated Pondo's Restaurant 1980-97. In his retirement years, he cooked for Woodland Towers to assist in the rebuilding of their home that was destroyed by the tornado of Groundhog Day 2007.
Doug was a lifetime member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand. Please send donations in memory to the church.
GodSpeed, Doug.
