James Jones Obituary
Jim was born Sept. 28, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois, a son of William and Edith Mae Smitherman Jones.
He married the love of his life, Celia Marie Barnhill, on Dec. 1, 1978, in Deltona.
Jim was raised as a devoted Baptist.
He was a carpenter, and retired from Volusia County Schools in 2004.
Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening and working with his hands. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. His wife and family were top on his list.
Jim loved sports and watching FSU football. He was a Little League baseball, softball and basketball coach in DeLand for 10 years.
Jim played tennis, and was in the DeLand Tennis League, which is where he met Celia. He was also a member of the Monday Men's Group in DeLeon Springs.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Celia Marie Jones of DeLand; four daughters, Betty Jones Pierce (Russell), Emily Jones Thompson (Marcus), Karie Jones Voigts and Vicky Jones; 12 grandchildren, Hannah, Sage (Billy), Garrett, Amanda, Katelyn, Blake, Maeganne, Ava, Russell Kayden, Micah, Luke and Everly; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Mason; one brother, Butch Jones; sister-in-law JoAnne Rodkey (Carl); his nephew, Chris Jones; and two nieces, Sandy Jones Kiernan and Paula Branz.
Allen-Summerhill is in charge.

Jim was a kind and generous man and a valued friend. He served with the Deleon Springs Monday Men group and helped with uncounted community service projects. He would always be one of the first to help a friend in need. He will be missed by all.
