Thomas J. O'Grady, 47, of Adams, died at his home Monday morning, Feb. 7, 2011, following a long and strong fight with cancer.
He was born June 19, 1963, at Lincoln. He graduated from Adams High School in 1981, where he had played football, was a Class D wrestling qualifier and an Eagle Scout. He then attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln for auto mechanics.
He worked for Farmland Foods in the maintenance department for 20 years. He was married to Christine Diaz March 15, 1991, in Lincoln.
He had been a Scout Master, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing and four-wheeling.
Survivors include his wife, Christine of Adams; one son, Cody O'Grady of Adams; one daughter, Nicole O'Grady of Adams; three stepchildren, Antonio Chad Diaz and fiancee Desiree CriesForRibs of Lincoln, Kelli Scholer of San Ramon, Calif., and Tony Scholer and wife Emily of Lincoln; his father, James O'Grady of Adams; two sisters, Rose Cason and husband Tom of Roundrock, Texas, and JeanAnn Fletcher and husband Shawn of Grand Island; one brother, Dan O'Grady and wife Kari of Hastings; eight nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Monette Diaz of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Arlt O'Grady; and one brother, Patrick O'Grady.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing. The body was cremated. A memorial has been established to the family's choice.
