Mr Simon changed my life in my 5th Grade. I was in St. Elizabeth’s hospital for 6 weeks in 1976 with cancer, he came every day to my room to give me my math lesson. I looked forward to his visit everyday and to this day I remember how he would enter my hospital room and my world would light up. I truly believe he saved my life through his presence and prayer. He is in my memory often and forever.

What a treasure we had in Fred Simon! Back in the late '80's, I was a manager at Blockbuster Video on Phelan. He came in almost nightly, and was just the most gentle, sweet, wonderful man! I always looked forward to him coming in.
I enrolled my oldest son in his martial arts class, and he was always such a delight!
My condolences go out to his family. You were very lucky, as were we all.

Fred was a wonderful, kind, And humble man, And I had the pleasure of working at Hotel Beaumont when he would come in with his cheerful self and exercise with the residents.. He brought joy wherever he went... This man might be gone, But he will never be Forgotten.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Mr. Fred will forever be the guardian angel watching over his, "Lil Babies" as heaven is being serenaded with the many melodies, we all know, Old Man River will be one of the top 3! Rest in Peace Mr. Simon, job well done, many lives have been touched, lessons have been learned, love has been given and that smile that lite up rooms and venues now lighting up heaven!

Fred was my first ever mentor when I was a child.
From 1990-1996, I trained with him, and he took good care of me. During those years, I spent most summer days with him from morning to evening, taking and teaching classes.
He consistently encouraged me, loved me, and celebrated me. He showed me that every person matters and everyone is worthy of love.
During our training, he would say, “Practice does not make perfect. practice makes permanent.”
His practice of love, generosity, and dedication is permanent in my heart.
I am so deeply grateful for his monumental impact in my life.

I met Fred Simon as a young girl while attending Sally Curtis Elementary School. He was kind, funny, caring and empathetic and helped to shape the person I became later in life. The lessons he taught in education paled to the life lessons he imparted and imbedded in his students lives. I visited him many times as I grew older and we continued to stay in touch. In my eyes he will always be one of the great educators, a dear friend and someone others should aspire to emulate. I know he is singing with the angels and what a beautiful sound to hear, peace and love to those he left behind.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. I worked at Hotel Beaumont Assisted living where Fred volunteer with exercise classes for many years. He would sing in that beautiful voice of his as Eloise Milam would accompany him on the piano. I loved his big bear hugs and that jovial laughter. Fred's life is one that can be celebrated. My daughter was fortunate to have him as her teacher at Sallie Curtice Elementary school. Supported his students in their activities. He is now receiving his rewards with his Heavenly Father.

Mr. Simon touched the lives of so many of us in many different ways. He was always positive and encouraging. I was always amazed at how many things he excelled at. To see him support his martial arts students during a competition was worth the price of admission. Whether you won or lost he was always proud of you. He loved all his students. We were all his "babies". He was soo funny. A tower of strength. His love and devotion to Jean was immeasurable. Now, they are together again.
