Henry Knobloch Obituary

July 31, 1941 - January 4, 2025

Lifelong Beaumont resident Henry Guy Knobloch, Jr., 83, passed away on January 4, 2025.

The youngest of four children, Guy was born at home on July 31, 1941, to Henry Guy Knobloch, Sr. and Bernice Agnes Bassett Knobloch.

He was predeceased by his parents, siblings, Francis Eugene Knobloch and June Carolyn Knobloch; daughter, Susan Kathleen Knobloch; and wife, Jackie Carolyn Knobloch.

Guy grew up in the South Park neighborhood, and attended South Park High School, where he was a member of the Key Club. After graduating in 1959, he studied civil engineering at Lamar University, before joining the United States Air Force as an electrician in 1960, where he served in Okinawa, Japan; Charleston, S.C.; and Roswell, N.M.

After his military service, Guy worked for Western Electric from 1965 to 1984. He began working for Lamar University in 1985, during which he earned his degree in air conditioning and refrigeration in 1991. He retired from Lamar in 2020, and continued working a few hours a week making Poppa's hooks and jar genies for friend, Milton Magee's small business.

Guy didn't waste a minute: he was always on the go, whether helping neighbors, friends, and family with small projects, or taking road trips to visit friends and family. He was young at heart and not shy about trying new hobbies, including collecting and riding motorcycles and playing pool with his friends at the Lakeside Center.

Guy leaves many friends and family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Lucille Whittington of Hot Springs, Ark.; four children and their mother, Suzanne Sullivan Knobloch, Penny Lynn Echard (Rodney) of Reston, Va., Michael Guy Knobloch of Beaumont, Bonnie Lynn Byrd (Christopher "Matt") of Kingwood, and Timothy Guy Knobloch (Kathryn) of Deweyville; and grandchildren, Hannah Kathleen and William Christopher Byrd, and Greyson Miles Knobloch.

A service will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 10 a.m., at the Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel, 4955 Pine St., Beaumont. A reception at the Celebration of Life Center will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
