Jack Richardson Obituary

Jack Marion Richardson, 89, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Calder Woods, Beaumont. A lifelong resident of Beaumont, Jack was born on November 9, 1923, to Thomas Stone and Anna Laura Richardson. He went to Beaumont High School where he was a three sport varsity letterman in football, baseball, and basketball. Jack was part of the mythical quintet who won the District basketball title in 1941. He attended Lamar College (now Lamar University) and then the University of Texas, School of Dentistry in Houston, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. After a stint as a Captain with the Army, he met and married Wanda Charpiot and settled down in Beaumont. Jack practiced dentistry for nine years then decided to specialize and headed to the University of Washington. In 1959, he and his young family returned to Beaumont to set up his practice as an orthodontist. Prior to retirement, he served as a director of the Sabine District Dental Society and was a member of the West End Rotary Club where he earned a Paul Harris Fellow. Jack attended Trinity United Methodist Church. Ever the sportsman, he enjoyed weekly golf games with his compadres. Also, he looked forward to yearly deer hunts with friends and family, duck hunting with his sons, and occasionally would throw out a fishing line. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Charpiot Richardson; children, Stone Richardson and his wife, Nancy, of Krugerville; Marian Richardson of Houston; and Brian Richardson and his wife, Pamela, of Conroe; grandsons, Thomas Richardson and Samuel Richardson; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Alexandra Richardson. A gathering of Dr. Richardson's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Beth May and all of the special caregivers for their compassion and care that they provided over the last few of weeks for Jack.
