Nadine Pearce Obituary

Gloria Nadine Pearce of Beaumont, TX passed away on Monday, June 6 at the age of 86.

Nadine was born in Mabank, TX on January 31, 1936. She was the daughter of Odie and Lavonna Blackwell who both predeceased her. She grew up in Grand Prairie, TX and attended Grand Prairie High School, where she was a Varsity Cheerleader and involved in many clubs. After graduation she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Texas and returned to Grand Prairie High School as an English teacher. Nadine was a consummate learner and this was to be the start of what would become a continually expanding journey throughout her life. Nadine went on to earn a Master of Arts degree from the University of North Texas and a Post Graduate degree in Theology from the Anglican School of Theology. After moving to Beaumont, TX she began her teaching career at Lamar University.

Nadine was a student and a teacher, a successful restauranteur, an accomplished artist and a spiritual mentor to many. She did not put value in the typical accolades that accompany success. Regardless of a person's station in life, she welcomed all with arms wide open. Her greatest joy came from the personal connections she made with her students and helping them to overcome their fear of creative writing. This desire to empower her friends developed into workshops at her home. Here, Nadine would help them to explore their creative abilities through art, while also seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and God.

Nadine was a true friend and had a contagious zest for life that inspired so many around her. She had a sparkle in her eyes and a hearty belly laugh that was a true soul balm. Her positive and fun loving outlook was contagious and so often, she joyfully exclaimed to her family, "I have SUCH good friends!"

Nadine is survived by her sister Vermell Boucher; two sons, Don Pearce, Tony Pearce and his wife Karrie. She had three grandchildren, Graham, Ashleigh and Paige Pearce; and three great grandchildren, Eliana, Isabela and Sofia Pearce. All of whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.

A memorial service for Nadine will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. The family requests that dress is informal as this is how Nadine would have preferred. Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.

Flowers may be sent to the Broussard's Major Drive location and if desired donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 East 92nd Street New York, New York 10128-6804 or at aspca.org.
