Roy William Craigen Jr.

Roy William Craigen, Jr., 78, of Fannett, died at his home, surrounded by his family, Sunday, August 12, 2012. A native and lifelong resident of Fannett, he was born on July 8, 1934, to Mary Ann Phelps Craigen and Roy William Craigen, Sr. Roy married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Cuniff Craigen and they had three children. He was a cattleman and rice farmer for many years, and then he became a pipefitter for Local #195, until he retired. Roy was devoted to his family, lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed many things. Roy is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Peggy Cuniff Craigen; son, Alan Craigen and his wife, Traci, of Fannett; daughters, Fonda Craigen of Needville and Theresa Morris and her husband, Eugene, of Warren; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Bertha Leger and her husband, Tea, of Beaumont; and Eunice Sheets and her husband, Paul, of Henderson, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Merle Leger and Willie Mae Martin. A gathering of Mr. Craigen's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Broussard Cemetery, Fannett. His grandsons, Casey Craigen, Travis Morris, Troy Pokey Jones, Brazos Morris, Laramie Craigen, and Jeremy Leger will serve as pallbearers. His nephews, Roy Leger, Erwin Leger, Edward Leger, and longtime friends, Charles Kiker, Buzz Kiker, Douglas Dufton, Stan Holt, Billy Howe, Bobbie Thornton, and Ronnie Leonard will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank those special caregivers who spent time caring for Roy during this time, Dr. Musher and his staff, Baylor Medical, and the great staff of New Century.
