Ethel Klasing Obituary

Ethel Klasing
November 13, 1925 - January 17, 2023
Mascoutah, Illinois - Ethel Klasing, nee Bachman, 97, of Belleville, IL, born November 13, 1925, died Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Bria of Mascoutah Nursing Home. She had resided at Bria since August 2022. Ethel's unconditional love and gentle humor will leave an empty place in the lives of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Marcel Klasing of Okawville, IL whom she married on May 29, 1948, and who died on November 26, 1981, her parents, Julius and Catherine, nee Seiffertt, Bachman, 5 sisters, Lucille Nobe, Kathleen Muir, Marilyn Hoelscher, Sandra Parrish and Sharon Haake.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Muir of Chandler, AZ, Audrey Oliver of Wenatchee, WA; a brother, Richard (Susan) Bachman of O'Fallon, IL; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ethel worked at Meyers Pants Factory in Belleville. After marrying Marcel, they lived and worked on the Klasing family farm in Okawville. After some years, Ethel and Marcel both took jobs in Okawville and moved into town. She then worked at the Okawville Shoe Factory, and she accepted an offer to become a switchboard operator at the Okawville Telephone Co. Her last employment was as a cook at the Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah for 14 years, until she retired in 1996. Her coworkers, lovingly, called her "mom". The Grange is now Bria of Mascoutah, where she spent her last few months.
Ethel was a favorite sister, aunt, and a friend to all she met. She always had a smile and loved to laugh. Simple pleasures in life brought her great joy. In our hearts a memory will always be kept of one we loved and will never forget. The family would like to express a heartfelt, Thank You to her BJC Hospice nurse and support team.
At Ethel's request, memorials may be made to White Church Cemetery Fund, 6311 White Church Rd., Okawville, IL 62271. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
VISITATION: Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL.
FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Moll Funeral Home with Chaplain Jason Pierce officiating. A private burial will be at White Church Cemetery, rural, Okawville, IL.

We always loved our visits to Aunt Ethel and Uncle Marcel's house in Okawville. They always treated all us nephews and nieces so well, it always seemed like a second home although we were never there for more than a few days at a time. She will be missed, is already missed although we haven't seen her in a few years.

She was one of the greatest aunts I could have ever wanted. She loved with her whole heart.
