To the family and friends of Fred. He did so much for so many, and never asked for anything in return. I will remember him as a very caring and giving person

I first met Fred Painter in the early 90's while working for Madison County. From the very first time I met him, I was welcomed with open arms into his circle of family and friends. Fred was a generous and caring man and touched the lives of many, many people, including myself. He was always there lending a helping hand to those who needed it. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family (both immediate and his Smokey Joes' family). He was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.

Rest in Peace Fred and know that you were loved and respected a great deal.

Fred was a friend for many years - he touched so many lives and helped so many people. St. Clair and especially Madison County Democrats had Fred to thank for tireless work and a passion that inspired everyone around him. To fill the void he left we'll all have to work a little harder at election time and cheer a little louder at Cardinal and Rams games. Thanks for everything Fred, rest well.

Fred was a wonderful and caring person that I worked with at the Granite City Drivers Facility. He was an asset to the Sec of State.
