Theodore Lawrence Obituary

O'Fallon, Illinois - Theodore "Ted/Teddy" Lawrence passed away on March 2, 2023 at the age of 80. He came into this world on March 10, 1942, so he just missed one of his favorite activities: a family get-together with cake!
Ted met the love of his life, Henri Brandolf, while they attended Sioux Falls College in South Dakota. They were married on June 6, 1964. Together they had two children, Heather Faragher and Steven Lawrence (Tamara).
Ted is also survived by his sister, Lynne Lawrence Devine (Paul), his brother, Earle Lawrence (Virginia), and his grandchildren, Kaela and Jason Faragher.
Ted loved his family more than anything in the world. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He wasn't just devoted to his family, though; he was dedicated to his community and is considered a hero by many for his lifelong career in child protection social work. He instilled the values of compassion, empathy, and service upon others. He was a man of good character, and also quite a character.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris (Higley) and Edwin Lawrence, his step-mother, Irma Lawrence and his brother, Curtis Lawrence.
Ted was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.
Memorials may be made to C.A.S.A or Kinder Cottage in East. St. Louis, IL
The family will hold a private celebration of his life.

Ted was our CASA. He saved me over and over as I struggled to right the ship in our older child adoption. It was a tough time, and Ted was absolutely amazing. I'm so sorry for your great loss. I imagine that he was an even greater treasure to your family than he was to mine. Rest well dear friend.

We met Ted and Henri in Sioux Falls many years ago. We lost touch but read of his passing in the alumni news. We are so sorry for the loss for his family and friends.

Ted was a great guy and an amazing neighbor. I always helped him with yard work when him and Henri lived in Belleville. He always told great stories, and his sense of humor was incredibly uplifting. My heart goes out to Henri and the rest of the Lawrence family through these trying times. RIP Ted. You will be dearly missed.
