Thomas Carpenter Obituary

Thomas Raymond Carpenter, 85, of Honolulu, HI, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2025.



Born on December 13, 1940, Thomas was the son of Raymond Carpenter and Alice Carpenter (née Bernasco). He grew up in Collinsville, Illinois, where he attended Saint Peter & Paul Grade School and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1958. He later pursued his studies at the College of Pharmacy at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.



Thomas began his career as a pharmacist in St. Louis before relocating to Hawaii in 1967. There, he continued his profession with dedication and integrity, working for Longs Drugs, Thrifty Drugs, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.



He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; a great-nephew; and his partner. Thomas is survived by his brother Richard Carpenter of Castle Rock, CO; nephew Christopher Carpenter (Mary) of Castle Rock, CO; niece Jill Harrell (Dave) of Phoenix, AZ; nephew Jon Carpenter and niece Beth Borzechy (Garth), both of Cheyenne, WY. He is also survived by his sister Anna Marie Coultas (née Carpenter); nieces Angela Renko (Duane) and Carmela Coultas, all of Edwardsville, IL.



His extended family includes cousins Reverend Jim Voelker, David Voelker, Tim Meredith Bob Carpenter (Debbie) of Tulsa, OK; Judy Barada (John) of St. Louis, MO; Kathleen Poelzo of Plano, TX; and many other beloved cousins including Pattie, Mary Pam, and Mary Jane. He also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Childhood friend Mike Magin (deceased).



Thomas was known for his commitment to friendship and integrity. An avid walker throughout his life, he also enjoyed bowling and playing bridge with friends.



A celebration of life is planned for later this summer. Memorials may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs in Honolulu, HI.
