Marilyn Mansfield Carpenter passed away February 20, 2026, in Bogalusa, LA, at the age of 71. Marilyn was born February 23, 1954 in Greenock, Scotland, where she also graduated high school. Marilyn moved to America in the 1960s. She worked at the Charity Hospital in Bogalusa and Southeast Hospital in Mandeville, LA, for 10 years.

Marilyn, also known as "Nan", was known for her Scottish accent. She loved everyone and took in so many kids and adults. She never met a stranger; she was the mom of moms. Marilyn enjoyed taking care of anyone she came across.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents: Stanley and Margret Mansfield; the father of her children: Wayne Smith; her son: Robbie Smith; one brother-in-law: John Lanagan; and a sister-in-law: Dana Stillwell-Smith.

She is survived by her husband of almost 27 years: Roy Carpenter; two daughters: Stacey Herbert and Misty Chavis; a son: Kelly Lowery; two brothers: Frankey Smith and Walter Mansfield; three sisters: Lyndia Mansfield, Margret (John) Erceg, and Valarie Lanagan; six grandchildren: Camryn (Wade), Aleia, Breanna, Destin, Tristan, and Alex; two great-grandchildren: Lilly and Hazel; the Bonnett Family, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, kids, and family.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. Monday, February 23, 2026, a memorial visitation will take place in the funeral home chapel starting at 3PM until time of memorial service at 7PM with Bro. Chris Varnado officiating.
