Belleville, Illinois - Winifred Dolores Opperman, nee Kress, 94, of Belleville, IL, born Saturday, May 10, 1930, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at Mar-Ka Nursing Home in Mascoutah, IL.
Winifred was a retired sales clerk for Famous Barr/Macy's.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thornton Opperman; parents, Albert Kress, and Julia Kress; brother, Albert Kress Jr.; sister, Lorraine Joshu.
Surviving are her children, Caryn (Michael) Grippe of Princeville, HI, Scott Opperman of Belleville, IL and Todd (Jennifer) Opperman of Olathe, KS; brother, Richard (Jayne) Kress of Fairview Heights, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dean) Parkinson, Christopher (Brittany) Opperman, Daniel Opperman, Hannah (Shawn) Daugherty, Nathan Opperman, and David Opperman; great grandchildren, Alex, Maxwell, Thornton, Willow, Samantha, and Kiersten and dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Private Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, in Belleville, IL.

Caryn, Scott and Todd,
I was very sorry to hear about your Mother's passing. I have such wonderful memories of her. I remember her smile and wonderful sense of humor. She used to love to place a wager over bowling and if she won I had to wash her car. I'm afraid I found out about her passing too late to attend the services, but all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear off your mother passing. I played ball with Scott, and have known this family for 60 years. The world lost a beautiful lady. I'm out of town, but I will say a prayer for the family. I will always love you like my brother.
