Dollie Lucier Obituary

Dollie Lucier, age 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Port Angeles, Washington. She was born in Crosby Minnesota and moved with her family to Bellingham, Washington at age three. Dollie married Leo Lucier in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1976. Dollie had two daughters, Leojeanne Redifer and Shirley Crosby. Both were at her side when she died. Dollie worked with her husband in logging and commercial fishing. Following her husband's death, Dollie continued working as a volunteer at "We Care" in Bellingham and various other charities. Besides her incredible work ethic and support of her family, she crocheted several hundred afghans and lap blankets for child care centers, adult nursing centers, and friends and relatives. "Gramma Dollie" as she was known to her family was devoted to her lord and her family. Her love of family was non-negotiable and unbending. She completed her life as a force that her children and grandchildren will cherish forever. Dollie was preceded in death by her husband Leo, brothers Elison and George, and sisters Gladys and Lois. She is survived by her two daughters, son-in-law Ted Crosby; four grandchildren, Sherrie Pagels, Ted Leo Crosby, Pamela Kay Crosby, and Mark Raymond Crosby; and six great-children Jessica and Rebecca Phelps, Treat, Ady, and Katie Crosby, and Dillon Gatzow. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at Greenacres Cemetery on Tuesday, April 8 at 1 PM. You may share memories with the family at www.westfordfuneralhome.com.

I have so many fond memories of “Grandma Dollie” I am not sure where to begin. Dollie and Leo and my grandparents, Bettie and Phil Smith were always friends as far as I knew and Grandma Dollie has always been a part of my life. As a child on Lopez Island with her and Grandpa Leo, I spent hours in her camper playing with Siam her beloved cat. When I was bored my brother and I would ride our bikes to her house just for a cookie and to visit. I always looked forward to the weekends were I actually got to stay at her house. I am thankful for hugs at my wedding, the tears and prayers shared when my brother was killed in a traffic accident, the many mornings she would pick up my brother and I to go to church or when she would pick us up for a ride in her red mustang and giggle as she put the top down. I cherish the lap blankets she made for both of my children when they were born. I now live in Minnesota and teach in the small town where Grandma was born…I think she would be tickled. She will always have a special place in my heart and I will miss her greatly.

I will always remember Dollie and the years we spent at Calvary Temple worshiping the Lord, at Bible study, working in the kitchen, and working at "we care". She added joy and showed love to those around.

One can only smile when Dollie walked in the room. I was one of many young women at Bellingham Beauty School, that had the pleasure of not only meeting, but spending every Friday morning with Dollie when I was a student. She will always hold a special place with me and I will cherish the blanket she crocheted me the Christmas of 2004. May she be as happy with the Lord now, as she was when she graced our presence everyday. With deepest sympathy and good memories. Amy

The loss of your Mother..brings a deep sadness to all those who knew her. I am Cis of Bellingham Beauty School, I have known and loved Dollie for over 30 some years. I treasured her every visit because she would always say "I love you, Cis" Dollie would always remind my students that I did her hair when I was in beauty school. I am very grateful for the special place Dollie has in my heart and life. Thank you for sharing her with me and the many students at Bellingham Beauty School.
