Robert LaCasse Obituary

Robert "Bob" LaCasse, age 88 passed away July 10th with his family at his side. Bob was born in Bellingham on May 7, 1925 to Clarinda and Henry LaCasse. He attended Assumption Catholic School and Bellingham High School. As a boy he worked with his Uncle Rene LaCasse at historic Fairhaven Pharmacy. He loved baseball and Ford trucks and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale. He served his country honorably as a member of an army howitzer battery at a forward operating base in Germany from 1950-1953. He drove truck for Sumas Transport; working on several important projects including The Alaskan Pipeline. He is survived by his beloved wife Florence of 54 years and his children Morris, Larry, Sandy, Lesley, Mark, and Mike. He is also survived by sisters JoAnn and Doris and preceded in death by his best friend and brother; Wayne. He had 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He taught his family that you didn't have to be the loudest in the room to be heard or respected. His calm demeanor, strength, and sense of humor gave great comfort to those who knew and loved him. He was an amazing role model who taught his sons and grandsons how to be great husbands and fathers. Services will be held Friday July, 19th at St. Joseph Church in Ferndale. A rosary will begin at 10:30am with services starting at 11. A reception at the parish hall will follow. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Whatcom Hospice at www.hospicehealth.org.
