Sonja Bratz Obituary
March 13, 1985 - December 18, 2020
Anacortes, Washington - Sonja M. Bratz, age 35, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 as a result of an automobile acci-dent. She was born in Bellingham, WA on March 13, 1985 to Maureen (Hunskor) and Wayne Bratz. Sonja graduated from Bellingham High School in 2003 and earned a BA degree in Criminal Justice at Washington State University and in 2009 a BA degree in Environmental Science at Huxley College. She was employed by Island County working as a County Building Inspector and Plans Examiner.
Sonja is survived by her parents, Wayne and Maureen; sister Jennifer Bratz and brother Erik Bratz; grand-mothers, Elsie Hunskor and Carol Bratz; uncles, Marvin Hunskor and Russell Bratz and four cousins.
Sonja trusted in the Lord and is with Him now. She will be laid to rest at Ten Mile Cemetery. Sonja dedicated her time and talents to help both animals and people. She volunteered with disaster relief projects in both Louisiana and New York, and used her photography skills to raise money for the Island County Humane Society. "My passion is photography, my soul loves to travel, and…my zen comes from creating." Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross or the Whatcom County Humane Society. My heart was so sad hearing of Sonja's passing. I had the pleasure of having Sonja as a student at Alderwood Elementary in Bellingham. As a young child she had a beautiful smile and a joyful soul. She is a person I will always remember. May thoughts of peace and moments of beautiful memories be with the Bratz Family during these most difficult times. I am so sorry.

We are so sorry to hear about this tragedy. Our hearts go out to all family and friends for their loss. My sister and I babysat for The Bratz’s. Wayne and Maureen are truly wonderful people who had wonderful children and our hearts and prayers are with you at this time and always.

My thoughts & prayers go out to her family. May your Faith, Family, Friends & Many Happy Memories help you in the days to come. I've known Sonja from the day she arrived. In early years she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, with her family. It was so sad for us to read the news of a sweet young lady gone to soon
