Cindy Morrison Obituary

Cindy Ann Morrison, 62, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., formerly of Bennington and Manchester, Vt., passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family, friends and neighbors. Born in North Adams, Mass., on January 17, 1962, daughter of the late Carole (Darling) Morrison and Alan H. Morrison, a well-known automobile dealer in both Vermont and Florida, she attended Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, graduating in 1980. Following her years at Mount Anthony, Cindy attended Southern Vermont College in Bennington earning a bachelor's degree in accountancy.

While living in Manchester, Cindy worked in legal and accounting capacities for several firms, notably Winburn Law in Bennington. It was in Manchester that she began what became a lifetime of civic activity, supporting a number of community causes including Burr and Burton athletics. In 2006, Cindy moved to Fernandina Beach, Fla., where she would spend the rest of her life in the loving arms of her cherished Chad Street community. And while she left Vermont on a permanent basis, her annual road trips back to her home state reflected the connection she maintained with the place and community that raised her.

As a member of her Fernandina Beach community, Cindy's compassion, caring and generous spirit radiated upon her neighbors, her friends, and even the occasional stranger. She cared for her friends and family in both times of joy and of need, utilizing her love of cooking to celebrate graduations, mourn lost loved ones, and cherish the small moments of life as well. Known for her big laugh, her love of reading, and her volunteerism, Cindy's spirit lives on in all she touched with her huge heart.

Cindy leaves behind her daughter Alexandra Morrison of Tampa, Fla.; her stepmother Alenda Canedy Morrison of Mashpee, Mass.; two siblings, Charles Morrison and his wife Telalit of Nashville, Tenn.; Allison Lauer and her children Isabella MacKenzie and Lucas MacKenzie of Georgia, Vermont and her aunt Lisa Morrison, of Reading, Vermont; Cindy was predeceased by her mother, her father, and her brothers, Gareth A. Morrison and Scot A. Morrison.

Celebration of Cindy's life will be held at The Roundhouse Bar & Grill in Manchester, Vt., 2282 Depot St., on June 15th from 3-6pm.

Cindy will be laid to rest in the family lot at the Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.

In lieu of flowers, Cindy wished that any donations in her memory be made to the Coalition for the Homeless where she gave her time, energy, and love as a regular volunteer (www.chnassau.com/donate).

I'm saddened to hear of Cindy's passing. Having worked in the same close-knit legal community in So. VT with Cindy for a number of years, I will always remember her kindness and competence in our field. She and her family are in my thoughts. May she rest in peace.
