Christopher Carlee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Oxley-Heard Funeral Directors on Feb. 28, 2026.
Christopher Lothrop Carlee, 70 years old, passed away on February 14, 2026, from natural causes.
Born on October 24, 1955, in Montclair, New Jersey, to the late John Lothrop Carlee and the late Kathleen McDonnell Carlee. Chris grew up in Montclair, then went to college at Saint Anselm and New England College, both in New Hampshire. After graduating from college, Chris started his career in New York City as a trader at Drexel Burnham Lambert, then was transferred to Chicago to become a soybean trader. Later, he moved to Smith Barney as a grain trader, primarily a soybean trader. Chris had a very successful career as a grain trader at both firms.
While in Chicago, Chris married and had 2 children, Kendall and John, that he loved very much. Chris was also passionate about hockey, playing the sport in college, continuing to play hockey for fun after college, and coaching his children's hockey teams. In 2005, Chris divorced and moved to Fernandina Beach, where he re-married and had another daughter, Collette. In Florida, Chris loved to spend time with Collette and his 2 Siberian huskies, Scout and Lola. He always made sure to let Collette, and everyone around him, know how proud he was of her, and considered himself very lucky to have his family here in Fernandina Beach. He also enjoyed golfing, walking on the beach, and talking to everyone he met along the way. He made friends and acquaintances wherever he ventured. He will always be remembered as the friendly individual that he was.
He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Patricia Anne Norris, in Fernandina Beach; his 3 children: John Hunter Carlee in Washington DC, Kendall Piaget Carlee in Washington state, and Collette Danielle Carlee in Fernandina Beach; and his 2 brothers: Jan Carlee in Savannah, GA and Robert Carlee in Verona, N.J.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" at 3-5 pm on Saturday, March 14th at 2775 Ocean Oaks Drive, Fernandina Beach. All our friends and family are invited to come by and share memories of our time with Chris.
