Elizabeth Stack Obituary
She was born in Pittsfield on August 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Ann McNeice Durwin. Betty was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School and she later attended Berkshire Community College.
She was initially employed as a technician in the chemical laboratory at the former General Electric Co. plant on Woodlawn Ave. Later, Betty worked at the former Sears store and subsequently at England Bros. store on North St.
She and her husband of 42 years, the late Donald J. Stack, were married April 19, 1950 at the former St. Mary's Church. Don passed away December 23, 1992.
Betty is survived by her four sons, Robert J. Stack and his wife Veronica of Parma, Michigan, Shaun M. Stack and his wife Anna of Pittsfield, Kevin D. Stack and his wife Debra of Conroe, TX, and Timothy J. Stack and his wife Stephanie of Hollis, NH, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her sister, Rosemary A. Langdon, died July 26, 1990.
The family would like to thank HospiceCare of Western and Central Mass, Bonnie from Excel Care, Pat Verdi and most especially, Shaun and his wife, Anna, for all their wonderful care which allowed Betty to stay in her cherished home.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be this Monday morning, October 24th, beginning at 9:30AM at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Steven G. Montesanti, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made payable to "Elder Services" and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
