LEE -- Guido J. Gelpi, 90, of Cameron House, 109 Housatonic St., Lenox, formerly of Olive Street, died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Lee on April 19, 1917, son of Joseph and Angelina Pieropan Gelpi, he was educated in local schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served from Feb. 4, 1942, to Oct. 27, 1945.
After the service, Mr. Gelpi was employed by High Lawn Farm and then by Lee Lime. He was last employed by Thomas Memorials.
His wife, the former Rae P. Clark Basinait, whom he married in 1969, died April 19, 1985.
He leaves three sons, Gerald A. Gelpi of Becket, John A. Gelpi of Stockbridge and James A. Gelpi of Pittsfield; two daughters, Judy A. Gelpi of Lee and JoAnn Churchill of Easthampton; three stepsons, William Basinait of Lee, Robert Basinait of Pittsfield and Barry Basinait of Copake, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Pamela Basinait of Lenox Dale and Sharon Herman of San Clemente, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Guido Gelpi, who died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Lee Regional Visiting Nurse Association, in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. He leaves eight grandchildren Melissa, Geri Lynn, Patrick, Joshua, Jeffrey, Jason, Gina and Mia; 13 great-grandchildren Kyle, Angela, Amanda, Cody, Shelby, Jordan, Joey, Justine, Zachary, Jennifer, Geri Lynn, Mateo and James; two daughters-in-law, Emily Shalit and Susan Litton; a son-in-law, Vaughn Churchill; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Angelo and Peter, and by his sisters, Edith Eckert, Mary Chevillet and Emma Bartini.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
