Kathryn Stevens Obituary

Kathryn Marie Stevens passed away on November 3rd at Berkshire Medical Center after battling an aggressive cancer.

She lived a bright life filled with gratitude and was beautiful to the very end. She was elegant, always stylish, and delighted in being a homemaker when her children were young. Her children continued to be her greatest passion as she started her professional life as a special education teacher at Pittsfield High, achieving a master's and CAGS degree. In working with learning disabled students, she loved to witness their small triumphs and was a dedicated student and family advocate. She worked up until the day she no longer could and it pained her to have left behind her class due to poor health. She found beauty in the world around her and prioritized celebrating life's smaller moments that others may have deemed trivial and her wisdom then, echoed her outlook now, that "life is too short not to celebrate". She was a lover of all things nature. At home she could be be found in her garden or walking for hours in the forest with her dog, Botti. Her favorite time of the day was mornings, watching the sunrise sipping her trademark cup of Lipton tea. She was unimaginably optimistic, even in the darkest of times, and her will to live was stronger than any natural force. A true child of the 70s, the lyrics to one of her favorite bands "Bread" sum up our feelings at this very moment "I would give anything I own, give up my life, my love, my home, just to have you back again.."

She leaves behind her 3 children Katie-May, Christiaan, and Cassandra as well as their father, Richard Stevens.

As Grandmother she will leave a hole in the hearts of her three grandchildren Oliver-Noel, John Jr., and Juliette and will now join her predeceased daughter Gabrielle, brother Michael, and parents Pauline and Michael.

SERVICES: Friends are invited to join with the family for visitation on SATURDAY, November 6th from 12-1PM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home. A graveside service at Pittsfield Cemetery will be at 1:30PM.

My sincere sympathy to the family. I remember her well from St. Joe's and find it so sad that many have passed on so young. Life goes by so much faster than we realize as kids. She was a lot of fun and friendly to everyone. Rest in Peace!

Went to HS with "Kathy". Although we weren't close friends, we shared some of the same classes. Having read this obituary, am truly sorry that we didn't get to know each other. She evidently embodied her Christian faith throughout her adult life. A key attribute of a true saint is JOY. Both her radiant face and the heartfelt biography herein attest to her saintliness. Sincere condolences to all who miss her earthly presence. Eternal rest grant unto Kathryn, O LORD, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

I am sorry to learn of Kathy's illness and passing. She was a cousin of my first husband, Ed Taubinger -- Aunt Marie's son. I have not seen her in a long time. A very happy memory was our trip to Pittsfield for Katie's First Communion.

Dear Katie, Cassie and Christiaan: I was so sorry to hear that your mother had passed but I am grateful she is no longer in pain. I will miss her. We did not see each other nor were we in contact as much as either of us would have liked. We shared many good memories as we grew up together. She will be very missed. All my love to you all and to your Dad as I know they remained friends and that was very special to her.
