Ralph Rogers Obituary

Ralph (Buddy) R. Rogers III passed away Tuesday, January 3rd, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsfield MA to Ralph and Doris (VanBuskirk) Rogers on December 13, 1942.

Buddy graduated from Pittsfield High School and went to work for GE, Crescent Creamery and then onto O'Connell Oil & Associates where he delivered oil for many years throughout the County, he had great joy taking care of his customers, always greeting them with that infectious smile. Which his coworkers would eventually nickname him "Jolly".

He was a hard worker and great provider for his family, Buddy enjoyed NASCAR, Classic Cars, Cleveland Browns and St. Louis Cardinals which transcended down to his children. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy and the most important thing to him. He also enjoyed spending time at the Cape and in Maine.

Buddy leaves behind his loving wife Jane E. (Murphy) Rogers of 60 years, just celebrating their anniversary on December 1st, also sons Christopher (Karen), Timothy (Rosa), Jeffrey (Karen), John, Mark (Lisa), Matthew (Shannon) and daughter Susan Rogers, his sister Sally (Rogers) Killackey, 3 nieces and 4 nephews, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Buddy is predeceased by his parents, sister Nancy (Rogers) Whelan and his granddaughter Christina Rogers.

I´m sorry for the loss of your husband and father. I remember him when I lived in the neighborhood many years ago and our children all played together. Much time has passed but I remember him and your family fondly.

Sorry to hear of Buddy's passing. He was a regular in the 1960's at George's Variety, my brother Jack's store. We bantered about baseball and autos in a good natured manner. A nice man!

To the entire Roger´s family, Michelle and I are so sorry for your loss. We were lucky enough to live across the street for 22 years. When we moved into our first home on Velma Ave in 1990 Bud was the first neighbor to come over and introduce himself with that big smile and even bigger handshake. Anything you need you come see me he would always say and he meant it. Bud would run over with his snow blower when he saw me struggle to shovel by hand until I could afford my own. But that´s the kind of guy Bud was. I will always miss our great conversations about cars from one driveway to another. I will always see his big smile and hear his laugh.
