Lisa Ann Munroe, age 75 of Big Rapids, passed away at her home Thursday, March 10, 2022.
She was born October 6, 1946 in Muskegon the daughter of Thelma (Thunfors) and F. Edgar Johnson. Lisa was raised in Muskegon where she began to study the piano and later moved on to Chicago for more extensive instruction.
Lisa returned to Muskegon where she accepted accompanist positions playing for both Muskegon Community College and the Muskegon Civic Opera.
She married William D. "Bill" Munroe on January 3, 1970 and they moved to Big Rapids to make their home. While there Lisa continued her work as an accompanist for the coral groups at Ferris State University as well as touring Europe with the Blue Lake International Choir.
During her years as an accompanist, Lisa also had a successful career as an account representative for WBRN Radio in Big Rapids.
After retiring, Lisa and her husband Bill, spent 25 years in Lakeland, Florida before returning to Big Rapids in 2019. She was an avid lifetime fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Lisa is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill Munroe of Big Rapids, a daughter, Mia Munroe of Traverse City; four step-children, Scott (Susan) Munroe of China, Maine, Jill (Keith) Oliveri of Grand Haven, Martin Munroe of Barryton, Todd (Myra) Munroe of Central Lake; several step-grandchildren; her brother, Marc (Veronica) Johnson of Germantown, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Frances (Rodger) Coburn.
There will be no public services and those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Lisa's memory may do so to the Animal Rescue Coalition of Mecosta County (A.R.C.) or the Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly known as Palm Terrace 1919 Lakeland Hills Boulevard, Florida 33805, where she happily volunteered for many years.
