Dorlene Bolton

Our sweet Mom passed away with the sunrise on Mother's Day, at Wyndstone Assisted Care. Dorlene Myra Johns Bolton was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada on Feb. 28, 1933, to Ruby and Harley Johns.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband. Mom grew up in Ponoka, Alberta, on a beautiful farm that she loved all her life. She was a hard worker and enjoyed being outside with her dad, especially when they worked the horses. Mom's favorite horse was her "saddle horse" Skippy. She and Skippy had many adventures riding to school every day, rain or shine. Later, Mom attended Olds Agriculture School where she was a runner-up in the school beauty pageant.

Mom married Kenneth Bolton in 1952 and moved to the United States where they had 4 children: Terry (Pat) Sauer of Billings; Barry (Dena) Bolton of Hilger; Cindy (Jon) Wittman of Huntley; and Brad (Liz) Bolton of Houston. Mom had one brother, Matt (Shirl) Johns of Ponoka, Alberta, Canada. Mom and Dad lived on the Huntley Project for many years, and they had many good friends. Mom belonged to the "Sewing Club," which involved some sewing and a lot of visiting and laughter.

Mom loved her Saturday Morning Breakfast Club and would rarely miss it. Mom and Dad both loved to travel and went on many interesting trips in Europe, Australia, the U.S. and Canada. Mom was a member of Valley Baptist Church and took great comfort in her faith.

Mom will always be remembered for her true love of homemaking, decorating for any and all holidays, and keeping the yard and garden neat and tidy. Mom loved to entertain and get the family together – she would take great pride in setting a beautiful table loaded with good food. She especially enjoyed when the grandkids would come out to stay, where they enjoyed spending time on the farm, or when they would all pile into the motor home for some kind of adventure. We will remember Mom for her love of family, her ability to forgive and her genuine big smile.

We would like to thank Dr. Ang and everyone at Hospice (Nicole, who provided so much care and support), and all the staff at Wyndstone who were so good to Mom, as well as her friends who visited no matter where Mom moved. Godspeed Mom, we know you and Dad are happy together again.

A viewing will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Friday May 17, at Heights Family Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 1:30 P.M. There will be a private inurnment at a later date.
