Eunice Montgomery Obituary

Eunice Montgomery went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at Valley Health Care Center.

Eunice was born on April 14, 1920, in Browns Valley, Minn., to Joseph and Alvina (Fonder) Nigg. She grew up on the Nigg family farm near Peever, Minn., and later on a farm south of Ipswich. She later moved to Billings, where she owned and operated many restaurants there and in Lewistown. She was famously known as "Sarge" in her restaurants. Later, she opened up her home to care for elderly people. She enjoyed cooking dinner, gardening and watching her grandchildren grow up.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her daughter, Colleen Dunlap; and three brothers, Vince, Joey and Clare Nigg; and a sister, Ardyce (Alan) Hinds.

Survivors include her son, Larry (Penny) Hart of Aberdeen, S.D.; two daughters, Glenna (Chuck) Van Metre of Darby, Kan., and Dawn Beckman of Billings; three sisters, Helen Rose, Geneva Benes of Billings and Glorraine Johnson of Aberdeen; and one brother, Carroll (Nancy) Nigg of Salem, Ore.; grandchildren Melissa (Jeff Goff), Randi Beckman and Michael Roseberry of Billings; Heather Hart of Aberdeen and David, Joe and Chris Van Metre of Darby; many great-grandchildren, two of whom she helped raised until her passing: Dante and Quintin Arroyo of Billings; and numerous other family and friends.

A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Holy Rosary Church.
