Harold Elmer Zundel

LAUREL - Harold Elmer Zundel, age 77, passed away on Nov. 28, 2018. He is a longtime Laurel resident. He was born on Oct. 29, 1941, in Kulm, North Dakota, and was the tenth child to Edward and Anna (Tiede) Zundel. At 6 months old, the family moved to Laurel, where he grew up and attended school. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and is a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Billings.

At age 11, he worked at the Laurel Outlook, and later worked farm jobs and at the Sugar Beet Factory. Harold met the love of his life, Cheryl (Robbins) Zundel and married in Powell, Wyoming, on Oct. 16, 1965. They were blessed with two sons, Rob and Scott.

He worked for United Prestress Inc., was a foreman for Pierce Packing Co. for 19 years, then Elk River Prestress and then retired. He was a jack of all trades, carpentry, plumbing, electrician and machinist. He remodeled their home and six other homes. His greatest joy in his life was watching their sons in sports and activities, and then his grandchildren. He loved his garden and shared his vegetables with family and neighbors. He loved fishing, boating and camping with the family, as well as watching NFL football. He had an over-3,000 pieces of candy and gum collection.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers Eddie and Bill; sisters Hilda, Flossie, Esther, and Mary; and grandson Gunner.

He is survived by sons, Rob (Robin) and Scott (Bonnie); grandchildren Bailey, Morgan, Tavia, Amber, Aspyn and Chance; brothers Lee Roy and Ruben; sister Vivian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2336 St. Johns Ave. Interment will be at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park.
