Kenneth Elroy Schmidt, 87, passed away in Billings on March 26, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 10, 1927, to Neil and Mabel Schmidt in Chippewa Falls, Wis.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he worked most of his life as a mechanic. After living in Williston and Springbrook, N.D., he moved the family to Billings in 1972. There, he worked for Houck Transport, Northern Tank Lines and Tractor & Equipment Co., retiring in 1992.
Kenneth's hobbies were gardening, wood working and wood carving.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Clarice (Raveling); daughter LaDonna (David) Kobes of Toppenish, Wash.; sons Clinton of Molt and Denzel of Sidney; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Virgil Knudson, sister Kathlyn, and daughters-in-law Erlene Schmidt and Trish Schmidt.
Cremation has taken place, and a private burial will be held at a later date. Smith Funeral Chapels is assisting the family with arrangements.
