Lois Mathison Obituary

MILES CITY - Lois Mathison, age 84, died suddenly on Friday, May 3, 2002, while doing what she loved; working in the garden.

Lois was born Oct. 16, 1917, to Edna and George Hagler in Zenda, Kan. The family moved to Savage, where she graduated from high school and met and married Matt Mathison on April 4, 1937, in Glendive. They farmed in Kinsey for 27 years. Lois moved to Miles City after Matt's death, where she has since resided.

Lois is survived by her six children and their spouses, Marvin and Kay of Lewistown, Marlene and Toby of Billings, Jim and Gayle of Kinsey, Penny and Don of Montecito, Calif., Brent and Jenny of Spokane, Wash., and Brenda and Dino of Seattle.

Lois was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Michael (Tobias) and Andy (Tammy) Mathison, Jeff and Michelle Lawson, Rob (fiancé Mary Regan), Kirk and Kristin Mathison, Katie Nulty, Matt and Christine Mathison, and Scott and Nicolas Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kelli Mathison. She is also survived by two sisters, Alice Prigan of Savage and Betty Lapp of Terry, and her special longtime friend, Bette Kale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt, and two brothers, Leonard and Bobbie Hagler.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, in the Chapel in Miles City. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 8, at the First Lutheran Church, 512 South Cale, in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following interment at the church. All friends are welcome. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of their choice.
