Marie (Settera) Mahana
BILLINGS - Another angel in heaven. Marie (Settera) Mahana born December 30, 1932 died April 19, 2022 of dementia/natural causes. Her parents passed when she was young and she was raised in St. Thomas Orphanage in Great Falls, MT. Upon graduation she put herself through nursing school at St. Josephs Nursing School in Lewistown and nursed in Harlowton and Billings for close to 50 years. Mom married Don Mahana (dad) September 1, 1956 and they were together 65 years. Together she and dad owned the A&W in Harlowton along with their other careers. Alongside dad, she learned to love the outdoors; camping, hunting, and fishing. She also loved crafts and helping all of her neighbors. Family meant the world to her and family gatherings were the ultimate highlight for her. She was at every activity she could possibly be at for her daughters, granddaughters and great grandchildren.
Quote from a granddaughter: "In true grandpa Don fashion, he went along ahead of her to prepare the others for a special little firecracker that would soon enter the Gates of Heaven. She was a Vince Gill lovin, Eagle drivin, afghan on the davenport, rosary praying kind of gal! She was however, just feisty enough to let you have it if she felt you needed it".
Mom was an amazing woman and will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by many family members including her husband Don (Jan. 8. 2022). She is survived by three daughters: Lori (Tim) Harmon, Billings, Debbie Johnson, Harlowton, Lavonne Kent, Huntley; five granddaughters: Chrissy, Cathy, Bailey, Shelby and Shayla; great granddaughters Logan, Kennedi, Bostyn, Maci, Tennyson and Kayhana; great grandsons Bobby and Brecken.

When I grew up in Harlo I was blest to have worked for Don & Marie for all 4 high school yrs. The A&W was where I learned a great work ethic; all thanks to both of them. Clearly their love just blossomed as the years went on. I remember what a hard working nurse/Mom Marie was and Dad Don , working for the Post Office and both running the drive-inn. Clearly the family sounds like a happy family. I would expect nothing less from two of the finest, ethical people I ever had the privilege of working for. They are now together forever. To the family find solace in your wonderful memories. I am so very thankful I worked for the two of them. Bless all of you!!! Don & Marie; THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU TAUGHT US.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was lucky as a new LPN to work with her in the early 80s. Marie was an excellent nurse and so kind to people in distress. I also remember the delicious hamburgers from the Harlowton A&W on our way home from the mountains.
Those were both good memories. Thank you, Marie.
