Milton Lang Obituary

Milton "Sparky" Hugo Lang

Milton "Sparky" Hugo Lang - 72, born 4/23/50 in Los Angeles, CA, passed 8/25/22 in Padre Island, TX.

Survived by his 4 children, Joshua of Las Vegas, NV; Bailey, Taylor & Mason of Billings, MT. Sisters + "Kristy" & Rex Reed and "Lisa" & Jim Pratt. Grandchildren: Camron, Parker, Carter & Gunner. Nephew Chad Reed & his son Sebastian; Niece Heather Schubert & her sons Zachary & Reed. Moved to Billings, MT in '94 with his wife Alicia & their 3 kids; was employed at Denny Menholt Chevrolet and the Billings Gazette. He retired and relocated in June 2021 to Padre Island, TX (where he had spent many family reunions) to live out his dream of getting back to the coast. He enjoyed the warm weather, water, and soft sand. He loved music, reading, history, & travels but most - his family. On 9/10 we scattered his ashes out to the sea and made a fire pit on his favorite beach on Padre Island, just the way he liked it. You are truly loved and missed. Swim with the fishes. RIP Spark

I met Milton, who will forever be "Taylors dad" to me, about 10 years ago, Taylor had been watching my baby for the day, upon arriving I was caught off guard when I was told I was being introduced to her dad. Holding my 4 year olds hand I stepped into his home and 2 things stand out to me most. 1. His home was so trendy and organic, his artwork was so unique and modern.. he was going to be awesome.. His style and vibe gave that away instantly 2. The greatest warmest heartfelt smile. He made me feel so welcome and wanted. He introduced himself to my 4 year old directly to her with his warming smile and grandpa magic my shy little girl was answering questions and giggling happily with her new friend. He had a way to make us feel so welcome and wanted despite my 2 messy toddlers. The conversations we had were always meaningful, he was so intelligent.. with so much compassion and he always remembered what was said making sure to check in on how my first flight with 2 toddlers went or whatever situation I had shared had sorted out. He made me feel cared for like I mattered. He never forgot my kids names and always spoke directly to them making them feel important and cared for, comfortable and safe anytime we visited. He knew movies and actors my parents had never heard of.. I always remember thinking what an awesome dad she was lucky to have such a cool yet loving dad... I went on to witness The beautiful relationship he shared with his daughter and grandson. I can recall countless times Regardless of the situation Taylor would say "I'll call my dad" for advice, directions, a TV and bed for recovering from a bad night out, encouragement, diapers, a babysitter, parenting wisdom; diagnosing the newest rash or fever, reasons for the sleepless nights and endless crying, just how do you potty train a boy or? or just to chat and say I love you he always answered and he always had solved whatever it was. He was her safe place and security her person she could confide in and the only man i have known her to turn to for guidance. His unwavering pure devotion to his family was endless and beautiful to witness. He filled a void in his grandsons life and their relationship was truly special, giving him so many memories and experiences he will forever hold and shaping the boy he is and man he will become. The bond between them was beaitiful and the love he showed him was immeasurable. I knew him as Taylors dad, and I am confident saying that his greatest joy was just that, being a father, and being blessed with the joy of his grandsons. I am holding you all close in my prayers and thoughts and My deepest condolences and love to all. And to Taylors dad, thank you for making me feel special on those ordinary days because sometimes those days are when people need to feel cared for the most.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Milt at the Gazette a few years ago. He was such a joy to be around and always made everyone smile. I always teasingly called him Milton and it never failed to make him laugh. He would bring bagels occasionally, just to treat our department. He was a great, kind, person, that only ever had nice things to say about others. He will surely be missed.

Sorry for your loss. Milton was such a likable guy. My son loved hanging out with Milton and his best buddy Mason.
