Alice Mary Singer, 91, Bismarck, lost her courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends on April 17, 2012, at a Bismarck care center. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Alice was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Beulah to Glenn and Lennie (Poynor) Voeltz. She was raised and educated in Beulah.
She met and then was married to the love of her life, Herbert W. Singer. They were married July 13, 1946, in Wibaux, Mont., and then settled in Medora, until they started their family. They moved to Bismarck in 1949 and then moved to Williston in 1962. They returned to the town she loved, Bismarck, in 1975.
Her joys in life were raising and caring for her children and writing poetry. She also loved drawing and painting. Some of her paintings were featured in local Bismarck stores. She was full of life and shared so much happiness and love, and was always good with an April fool's joke. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Morales; her sons, Glen (Lanette), James and Niles; her grandchildren, Zacharcy Morales, Melissa Jolly, Paula Mosley, Jeanine Singer, Amy Garman, Ashley, Jamie and Lindsey Singer; and her great-grandchildren, Preston, Malia, Finn, Beckette, Isabell, Febee and Tucker and special friend Cheryl Ulmer and Gina Powers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; and brothers Don, Earl and Lew.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Baptist Home and St. Alexius Medical Center.
