Gordon Benrud Obituary

Gordon "Gordy" Benrud, 76, Bismarck, died Feb. 24, 2001. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Jake Kincaid and Mary Porter officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Gordy was born Aug. 9, 1924, at Chippewa Falls, Wisc., the son of O.M. and Gladys (Patrow) Benrud. He was raised and eduated in Eau Claire, Wisc. Gordy married Jeanne Aide March 8, 1944, in Chicago. They moved to Bismarck in 1945. Jeanne died in 1987.

Gordy worked in the building materials business for most of his career and for many years he owned and operated his own company, Benrud Building Materials.

Gordy served on the City Planning Commission for many years. He married Ann Frappia Dec. 12, 1988, in Bismarck. They enjoyed traveling and attended many golf functions throughout the country when Gordy was the Executive Director for the North Dakota Golf Association.

Gordy was inducted into the North Dakota Golf Association Hall of Fame in 1998. He was a member of Apple Creek Country Club for nearly five decades, where he also served as president. Gordy was also a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Bartlett, Sartell, Minn.; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Jeanne and Lynn Wolf, Mandan, and Anne and Ed Kalianoff, Steele; six grandchildren, Corey and Lee Bartlett, Katie, Megan and Molly Wolf, and Michael Kalianoff; two brothers, David, Paris, Mo., and Donald, Beaver Dam, Wisc.; and two close friends, Dick and Connie Heidt.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Child's Hope Learning Center, 2921 N. 19th St., Bismarck, N.D. 58503, or to St. Joseph School, 410 Collins Ave., Mandan, N.D. 58554.
