May 14, 1947 - March 16, 2025
Michael Bailey, 77, New Salem, ND, formerly of California and Oregon, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at a local care center. Burial in the ND Veterans Cemetery, March 21, 2025.
Michael was an avid home chef. He shared his passion for gourmet cooking and baking with friends and family by hosting intimate, fine dining, dinner parties for all occasions.
Michael was born May 14, 1947, in Bismarck, ND to Gerald and Eleanor (Herr) Bailey. He was raised and educated in Wishek, ND. Served in the Air Force. Lived and worked in Southern California where he raised a family. Later in life, he moved to Oregon with his second wife, Lois, where they started a business. After Lois' passing in 2017, he relocated to New Salem, ND, to be with his sister and brother-in-law.
He is survived by his sister Sharie (and Edwin) Egli, New Salem, ND; 2 step children, Melanie Hyers (Oregon) and Scott (and Gina) Hyers (California); 2 grandchildren, Annika and Jonas Kaminskas (California); and 2 step grandchildren Chloe Campbell (Oregon), and Hana Hyers (California).
Michael was preceded in death by his second wife, Lois (2017); his daughter, Amy Kaminskas (2021); brother Wayne Bailey (1998); and his parents.
Funeral arrangements were made with DaWise-Perry / Mandan Crematory, Mandan, North Dakota.

Mike and I shared many fishing and cooking adventures here in Oregon. I just learned of Mike´s passing and I am deeply saddened. Mike could walk into a room full of strangers and walk back out later with a whole new group of friends. I count my self blessed to be one of his friends. Tight lines Mike, love you. Steven B. Morton
