We are hurting with you. Your family has always been special to us. When God's children are hurt and sorrowful, God is hurt even more. As parents, this is a shadow of God's love. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. We hurt with you and know there is sorrow.

Dear Bob, Betty, Matthew and Rachael,
I am so very sorry to learn of Andy's passing at this late date. It's particularly sad, how we can get so trapped in our own life commitments and struggles, that we often miss the heroes that live so close by and are putting up valiant, courageous fights in the company of their family and closest friends.
Andy was a shy, handsome, freckled boy with rich dark hair when I knew him as a middle schooler. He never had an unkind word for anyone and the effort he put in would put most of us to shame. He was a quiet, young man bursting with energy to come out and make his mark, be it on the tennis court or in the business world. I can recall the pride family members felt and humbly expressed as Andrew grew into manhood.
Life is unfair for those who mourn and grieve deeply for such a tremendous loss at such a young age. Perhaps, the one consolation all of us have is the belief in a spiritual power that allows these 'quiet angels' to be in our presence and show us what dignity and respect are all about...how humanity is moved and rocked by their very being and personification of goodness. We know Andy was a truly, genuine decent person who made others feel good and now he is watching over those he loved most and waiting for that return encounter to fill that tremendous void and emptiness. "Andy, Thanks for looking after so many of your loved ones and sharing that smile and tear..."
God bless,

Rachael, Words cannot express how much you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I wanted to tell you that my school (Flat Rock Middle, Asheville, NC) was beginning a penny drive for the Cancer Society when I heard of Andrews passing. I shared what I knew of his sickness with my students and they were touched. They raised over $1600 in just 2 weeks for the Society. There is nothing I can say to help heal the pain but please know that I am always here for a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen with. I love you and miss you babe!!!

Rachael,
Although words can not even begin to express the sadness we feel for you and Andy's family, we want you to know that our prayers and good thoughts are with you daily. Although this has been a very difficult time for both you and Andy, we know that God put you in Andy's life for a reason...to be the true love of his life. We do not always know God's plan but we truly believe that God brought you together for a reason. You were his strength when he needed it, and he will continue to be yours. Remember the loving moments as they will carry you through the hard times. We love you.

Today's celebration of Andrew's life was a beautiful mix of music, wisdom, humor, and love. As a colleague of Andrew's at The Holmes Group, the ceremony was a testament to what I learned about Andrew over the past few years. He was a caring, gentle, humorous, determined, and hard working person. To Rachael, Bob, Betty, and Matthew I pray that you will find peace and comfort in the knowledge that your husband, son, and brother is no longer suffering but left us a model of kindness and dignity in which to follow. Pax.

To the Sarkisian Family ~
I was just told of Andrew's passing this morning when I came to work. I am deeply saddened that I wasn't able to attend the services - I truly wanted to be there today. Please know that both Andrew and your family made quite an impression on me, both personally and professionally. He is one of those patients that I will always carry in my heart and memory. I might not have visited as often I as should have during his admissions, but I hope you all know that I thought of him often and kept him in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. I will continue to keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Please don't hesitate to contact me if there's anything I could do to help you during this time.

I am so grateful to have found this website because I instantly wanted to find a way to write you. I didn't know Andy was sick and I am so shocked and so sad. My favorite memory of Andy, at the time we called him Pee-Wee, was there at the neighborhood pool when we were little. The two of us were scarfing down a bag of goldfish and laughing and laughing about something I don't remember. But this other kid teased us and said eww you must be boyfriend and girlfriend!!! And Andy just replied, No, we're just really good friends. And I remember feeling all proud that I had this good friend. We just kept right on eating our goldfish and giggling. I wish I could have said goodbye. I will be thinking of all of you. With much love,
