ANNA CORCORAN Obituary

CORCORAN, Anna Commander,

She received her Registered Nursing Degree from Carney Hospital and later a BSN from Boston University. She had called Marshfield her home since the 1950's and was a winter resident of Cocoa Beach, Florida after her retirement in 1977.

Haven AH-12 and the destroyer tender U.S.S. Puget Sound AD-38. She was assigned at many naval stations in the United States, retiring from Jacksonville Naval Air Station in 1977.

After retirement, Anna volunteered at several naval facilities and Veterans Administration hospitals. She remained an active and vibrant presence in her community.

Anna was a woman of faith and served as a Eucharist Minister and active member of Saint Ann by the Sea Catholic Church in Marshfield and the Our Savior's Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spending time with her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews and their families. She loved a good party and was well-known everywhere she lived for her large St. Patrick's Day and New Year's Day parties.

One of seven siblings, Anna was sister of Theresa M. Corcoran of Marshfield and Cocoa Beach, Florida and pre-deceased by Marguerite Lee, Patrick J. Corcoran, Elizabeth Murphy, Mary A. Marchese and Martin F. Corcoran. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and God-children.

Annie was such an important part of my navy career and became a lifelong friend.I was just a Ltjg in 1974 when I arrived in Rosie Roads...she was chief nurse. She picked up me and Ltjg Crowell at the airport when we arrived, dropped us off at the BOQ, and said she would pick us up for Catholic Mass in the morning. That was who she was. My family loved her and visited Puerto Rico often.I was a side boy in her retirement in Jax. We kept in touch every xmas. I loved her and am so sad to hear of her passing. She lived life to the fullest. My deepest sympathy to her very large and wonderful family.
