Loved, loved, loved working with Anna. To this day, if I pass a bottle of Murphy’s oil soap in a store, she immediately comes to mind. She was so supportive of me while my mother was ill, as well as me returning to school in my late forties to be a teacher. I am now ten years in. She would be quite proud to know It all came to fruition after she passed.

Mum,
I cant believe its almost a year since you have been gone. I think about you everyday, and it still breaks my heart. I miss our morning drive to work together. We had the best talks. I learned so much from our "chats" I really miss you and wish you were here. You were such an important part of our lives. You were there for all of us no matter what. Keep watch over us, and guide us.
I love and miss you so much,
Mary

To my second mother...there hasn't been a day that has gone by that I haven't had you in my thoughts.I still can't believe you are gone from us...I know you are in that big Bingo hall in the sky with the big guy calling the numbers! More importantly you are back with Willy Mac and your parents.....but I am selfish and I still wish you were here with us...being my second mother and my mom 's BEST friend! I have 40 years of the greatest memories...you are forever in my heart...I love You....p.s see ya when I get there! You keep an eye on us from up there and Katie will handle the rest down here! I will make sure I continue to drive Clare and the rest of your (our) family crazy! Your 5th kid....D

I am a professor at the MIT Media Lab, right around the corner from Legal Seafoods, which has been our "cafeteria" for so many years now. It was always a special part of the week to go to Legals and to be recognized by Anna, even when there were huge crowds trying to get in. She always had a twinkle in her eye, always wanted to know what was new, always had time to chat about the family, Ireland or other things we had in common. Anna not only brightened up Legals, but also all of Kendall Square and MIT for that matter. She felt like family, she took care of all of us, and she made this serious business-like corner of the world so very much brighter. I will miss Anna very very much, and send my most sincere condolences to her colleagues at Legals - many of whom I know - and to her family - who I wish I did know. Anna made the world a saner, kinder, wittier and more sparkling place.

I too remember the good days of Legal Seafood in Inman Square. Anna's family lived right above the original fish store and small take out restaurant. Mary and I would go downstairs and get fish and chips while her mother was working. She was the ORIGINAL FIRST waitress of Legal Seafood. She was full of life and always found the good in people. May all your memories keep her love in your heart. Love, Joyce

Dear Anna,
I didn't have a chance to say good-bye. You were much too proud for that! I was 18 when I first saw you at the original Inman Sq. "legal". I am now 56!!!! Little did I know (in those days of plastic silverware and paper napkins) that you would hire me on to the "new" legal (they had real silverware) in Inman sq. and see me through college! You were always making promises to abolish me for taking time off to travel - but always took me back - because your heart was too big and I was from (not as directly as you) the old sod!!. When graduate school in another city became too much I came to you for work. You offered to take me back "for a while but back to school you go" after six months and a time to sort things out. I will never forget you. (Who among those who met you ever could!!!!). Anna Mcalister, you are one of a kind. May you enjoy your much deserved peace with many a blueberry muffin to start your days.
Lots of Love,
Kathleen (Mc Vorneen) Hennessy (the "Dr." who owes much of this to you and Katie.

Anna will be truly missed by me and my family. She was a trusted friend to my mother, a partner in crime, and someone she could share her secrets with. Over the past couple of years, we shared some great trips to Foxwoods and Vegas. When neither one of them drove, they would hop a bus to Atlantic City, or Foxwoods. Then my mother was 53 and got her license, they began to take trips on their own to Foxwoods. Scary times for the Sheehan and McAllister kids!! We always got a few stories out of them... but whether it was Vegas, Foxwoods, Atlantic City, or Bingo in Somerville.. "What happened there stayed there!" Anna is someone who will forever be in our hearts. God Bless her family and friends. May her many warm memories be a comfort to all.

May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm on your face. May the rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Ma,
My heart is broken, not only have I lost my mum but I have lost my best friend. I know you are with Dad in Heaven and that you will look after all of us. Even though I am only half the woman you are, I will do my best to look after the family as you would want. I will love you always and keep you close to my heart until we are all together again.

Dear Anna,
Kahlil Gibran once wrote "Out of suffering emerges the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars." (And a character you were Anna.) As little as you were, you could fill a room like no one else ever could. You lost your husband much too early. But you carried on with strength, an example of grace to all who knew you. When I took on my mother's care with Alzheimer's, you always had a supportive word. As well as keeping a very keen eye on my daughter Erin when she worked with you. Knowing you and working with you eight years at Kendall was a privilege I will always be grateful for. May you rest in peace with Willy and God forever. And in heaven may you have an endless supply of apple pie for yourself as well as plenty of Murphy's oil soap to keep the angels busy at all times.
Love you Anna

Anna's mere presence in a room or at a function would bring great delight to all. We should be able to harness her energy, zeal, passion and most of all her loyalty to family and friends. Anna will be missed deeply. She is, not was, one of a kind. We are better people just by knowing Anna.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time. Anna was someone that I knew all my life, whenever I would see her in the neighborhood she would always bring a smile to your face, I'll always remember her greeting of hello "love" May Anna rest in peace as she is reunited with Willie Mac and may your happy memories of her lighten the pain you are feeling.
