The good Dr. will be missed at North Hill. You may not remember me, I spent many months with your Mom and Dad at the end of her life. She was a real favorite of mine. The last few years the Dr. has been so busy, but I always got a big smile and a hello when he was out and about. my sympathy, prayers and all good thoughts are with you as you remember all the wonderful memories of a well and long lived life. Dr. Baldwin certainly had a long and productive life. I knew him when I was quite young, because his son Dwight and I were classmates at the Rivers School and later at Bowdoin.
My most vivid memory of Dr. Baldwin dates back to about 1960. I was a junior in college at the time and trying to decide my future career path. One weekend Dwight bought me home for a visit, and I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Baldwin what he thought about his choice of becoming a physician and if he had any advice for me. As I recall, we had the conversation in his living room where he was lying on his back on the floor to relieve some chronic back pain. He told me that being an internist was a fulfilling career, but he recommended against going to medical school, because the amount of information that doctors had to know was mushrooming and all but impossible to master. I thanked him for his advice but ended up not taking it. I went to medical school and had a very satisfying career as an internist myself, although I did not pursue a private practice like he did.
A few years ago Dr. Baldwin and I met again at Dwight's and my 50th high school reunion. Dr. Baldwin enjoyed talking to me and my wife Polly. We discovered that he had been in the same class at Amherst College as Polly's father Bill Raye. Even though he was in his mid-90's, his memory was remarkable. It was a very pleasant meeting. Attached is a photo of Polly, Dr. Baldwin, and me at the reunion.

Polly and I send our sincere condolences to the family.
