David and I were in the fried clam place on the Revere Beach Parkway at the moment when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Everyone standing in line was spellbound by the event taking place on the TV. The woman in front of David said "I'd be scared of snakes up there!". At which point David's pet boa constrictor began slowly moving up from under his shirt collar onto his shoulder for a view of the scene. We left and we laughed for a long time.

There were endless stories of the good times we spent together. I don't know if there is a Hereafter or not, but if there is, we'll laugh together again.

I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. He was a very dear friend of mine. We shared a house in Amherst in 1970 & remained friends all these years. David was a talker & always made me laugh. So so many wonderful memories of times together. I will really miss him. Judith Shaw

My heart goes out to Barbara and all of David's families and friends. I first met David in the early 70's when he was living at O'Neill Farm in Williamsburg. He was tall and thin with long curly red hair. The farm was a quiet idyll with hiking trails and a pond with croaking bullfrogs. David was always smiling and enthusiastic. He would think nothing of hopping on his bike to ride into the hills ten miles or more just to get to a good swimming hole. He and his roommate had a tarantula and a scorpion for 'pets'. Then our groups drifted apart and I lost touch...until about 10 years ago while my wife and I were kayaking at Tully Pond...who shouts out -but David. I was lucky to kayak with him regularly for a couple of seasons and then I drifted from kayaking and from hanging out with Dave.
During our second kinship- he was just as enthusiastic and personable as ever- maybe more so - in spite of all the medical challenges he had faced and was living with, with no complaint. He was very matter of fact about his life and losses and just so joyful about kayaking and those things he was able to do. He went about life with gusto. He enjoyed art and had some beautiful paintings by local artists.
I feel that David is one of those souls that has made the world a better place just by his time here. He will be sorely missed.

My condolences Barbara on the loss of your brother. As I read the Boston Globe the other day I got eye of the name "Palangi" and thought of your Mom and my Mom (who passed at 93 in Sept 2019) and what wonderful friends they were as young moms on Avon Street and growing up in Everett. I wanted to reach out with a hello and my sympathies after all these years.

I wish to express my sincere sympathies to David's family. I met David at the University of Massachusetts and have seen him throughout the years. My last memory of David was when we spent the day kayaking and then later enjoyed a backyard barbecue. We had a wonderful day, full of laughter and lots of discussion. He will be warmly remembered and deeply missed.

Dear Barbara,

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew David for many years, mostly from the Hampshire Fitness Club (now Hampshire Athletic Club) and also from being a Hadley resident and running into each other somewhat regularly. He was such a sweet man and a person who could light up my day with a brief conversation. I consulted with him a few times when acquaintances needed a place to rent; a friend who was also his tenant thought highly of him. He also provided engineering advice to a small Hadley group I was part of that worked to limit some big development projects. Despite his many medical trials he persisted in having an active life. He was always positive and constructive in my encounters with him. I am so glad that he had your loving care during this last chapter of his life. If you don't mind, I would like to include David in Kaddish prayers this month at Beit Ahavah, the synagogue in Florence. Kaddish is a prayer for mourners that celebrates life, brings comfort to the bereaved, and lets the community know of someone's passing.

David was a roommate and good friend in the early ‘70s. He was funny, smart, athletic. Though we lost touch, I have thought of him fondly through the years. I am sorry to hear of his death and want to convey my sympathy to the family.

It was the first day of the first grade at the Winslow School when I met David, and we became inseparable best friends all through our school years. We spent every day playing sports, hanging out, teasing, laughing, and always being there to support each other. David was like the North Star guiding us with his integrity and courage. He always did the right thing, always. He was a great athlete, faster than all of us (except maybe for his cousin Fred), more skilled, and he loved all sports. Quiet courage, gentle perseverance, loyalty, integrity, and good humor were his hallmarks. Life carried us to different places, but we got together when we could and our friendship was eternal. I don't know how I would have gotten through those early years without his friendship. RIP my brother, you were the best.
