DAVID ROSEMAN Obituary

ROSEMAN, David Died peacefully at 91 on Tuesday, June 29th at his home on the Boston waterfront surrounded by close family. He had been battling lymphoma for over a year, but it was a breakthrough Covid infection that finally did him in. Sadly, he was infected two weeks before the completion of a study that broadly showed that cancer survivors would be greatly helped by a 3rd vaccine shot. His professional life led a winding path from Brookline City Councilor to Assistant U.S. District Attorney to named partner at Casner, Edwards, and Roseman to Massachusetts Superior Court Judge to itinerant jazz pianist and novelist. One of his better known court defenses was retold in the book "The Crocodile Man: A Case of Brain Chemistry and Criminal Violence" by Andre Mayer, Michael A. Wheeler. As a judge, he gained renown for reversing the very unpopular closing of several schools in Boston in 1989. His personal life was equally full. He raised two sons in Lexington where he lived with his first wife, Lucille Roseman, co-founder of Xenergy, a successful Burlington energy conservation firm. After she sadly succumbed to a multi-year battle with cancer, he found a second chance at happiness with Leslie Sargent, a dedicated social worker in St. Louis, Missouri. They spent the final 3 decades of his life traveling and enjoying family and friends in St. Louis, Boston, New York and Martha's Vineyard. They would have been celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary on July 9th. After retiring from the bench, Judge Roseman spent his final years writing the novel "Patriot or Traitor" and working on his study of jazz piano with professor Eyran Katsenelerbogen of the New England Conservatory. He is survived by his wife Leslie Sargent, her daughter Kirstin, her son Mitchell, their kids; his son Stuart and his kids; and his son Richard's children. Visiting Hours: There will be a small private ceremony for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Fair Fight or The Boston Food Bank.

I'm sorry to learn of this, and so long after. I met Judge Roseman twice, many years ago, while visiting Stu, a friend from college. He was friendly, welcoming, wise and erudite. That´s a good model for all of us.

Leslie..so sorry to hear of David's passing. You two together were a remarkable couple.
I remember your wedding well because your anniversary is also my birthday and Doug and Mom had a birthday party for me at the Inn where we stayed following your reception.
With the warmest regards,
Bruce and Barrett
