I worked for Dudley for about six years. He had a great sense of humor. Once, I built up part of a diesel powered aircraft power cart and finished mounting the gas tank. He looked at it, and said, loudly, so everyone could hear and enjoy, " JOE! That's BAAAARNYARD!" After that, BARNYARD! became a definitive and operational word. I'll wear it as a badge honor...'kinda.
I visited him in Waltham after his retirement, and his hospitality and kindness are a fond memory I'll always remember.
Great guy. I'm deeply saddened to hear of his passing on.

During the 80's I had the pleasure of working with Dudley. The ping pong noon time tournaments and great commradeship promoted by Dudley are fond remembrance.

Many fond memorries with Dudley, 2 most memorable, Beech 1900 school 2 weeks in KS (are you from america?) and his atempt at the reverse steering bicycle (disasterous!)
Dudley always kept things interesting, he will be missed greatly.
Irene, our condolances for your loss.

Best regards,
Glenn & Donna

Many years ago I was sent to the Flight Facility to get permission to set up an experiment and was confronted by Dudley and a German Shepard. "You want to do what!!" he yelled, Both the dog and I jumped two feet! After he quit laughing he was very cooperative and friendly throughout the years.
Rest in peace Dudley!

"What a Porkin'" ( One of the main catch phrases in Dud's vocabulary. Usually uttered after one of his or somebody elses practical jokes or barb's struck the target.)
Dud was one of those rare characters in life that if your lucky enough, you have the priveledge of knowing. He was an "old school mechanic" who was thrust kicking and screaming into the computer age with all it's bells and whistles. Despite the destractions of the the bells and whistles he was able to filter those out and knew that somebody still had to turn the wrenches. He was great at knowing how to get to the goal, to get from "A" to "B" without going through "C"drive. As my boss he trusted me enough (giving me just enough rope) to let me make my own way, make my own decisions on how to get from "A" to "B". This was invaluble as no one else can teach you experience you have to do it yourself. He allowed me to make those deviations from "A" to "B" yet was always there to nudge me back on course. I'll allways be grateful for that. Thanks Dud.-

My deepest symapthy to Dudley's family. Dudley was a wonderful guy. I really enjoyed working with him. He was very funny and you always knew where you stood with him. I especially remember the day I took Dudley on a flight in Maui and we circled Haleakala volcano. We had a great time.
Sincerely,
Mike

One of the things I learned from Dudley is to stand up for yourself and others whenever a wrong is committed. I also found him to be a very generous man, character traits I’ll always appreciate. He was a stand-up guy.

Thanks Dudley for everything!

Dudley Davis was the chief of maintance at MIT Linclon Labs Flight Department ( we used airplanes as test beds for projects) Dudley would always say he was a B man. when I asked him what is a B man. Dudley would say jokingly " I'll B here when you take off and B there if you come back...
Of course he was just joking, Dudley was the best at his job. I will miss him. His laughter will be missed by all of us...see you in that big hanger in the sky my friend.

You always had safety of flight on your mind. I will never forget how you would not allow me to fly any aircraft if their was a question of airworthiness. I always respected you for that.

You were smarter than most pilots.

I will miss you.

When I managed the Lincoln Laboratory Flight Facility, Dudley Davis was the sharpest Aircraft Maintenance Chief I ever had. He was the right man for the job.

Dudley, we are going to miss you.

I was Dudley's Secretary at the Lincoln Laboratory Flight Facility.

He was the kindest Boss a person could have.

He thanked me every day for the job I did and always told me he wouldn't know what to do without my help.

We would always get the papers ready for a re-certification on an aircraft by the FAA. He would do it with expertise and always made sure it was done with perfection.

I had five children and was a single parent.
At christmas, without any fanfare he would always leave a very sizable gift of money in a christmas card for me and my children.

I am saddened at the news and I know how much he struggled to stay here with Irene and his loved ones. He will be sorely missed by me and many people who knew of his kind heart.
