EILEEN DONAHUE Obituary

DONAHUE, Eileen Marie (Conlon) Age 91, entered Heaven on Thursday, September 8th, amongst loved ones. Eileen was born in Boston, MA to James and Delia (Gannon) Conlon. Brought up in her beloved Charlestown, Eileen was a graduate of The Christopher Columbus Catholic High School in Boston's North End. Throughout her long life, Eileen worked in various jobs, but none more fulfilling than raising a family of six children. Eileen was greeted into Heaven by her best friend and husband of 67 years, John "Jack" Donahue. She was the loving sister to brothers James, Joseph, and Jackie; and cousin of Joseph and his wife Alice; sisters Genevieve, husband Frankie, and Marguerite, husband Edward. Eileen leaves behind her cousin Mary, wife to the late Danny Farren. Eileen is survived by her loving children, sons, John, wife Karen, Mark, wife Ria, Eric, and James; daughters, Eileen, and Ellen; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Eileen enjoyed spending time at the beach with her husband Jack, and whichever grandchild that they were enjoying at the time. She was a devout Catholic and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in North Plymouth. Family Burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. The Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home and Cremations Services of 1803 Centre St., WEST ROXBURY, MA, is assisting the family with the arrangements. A very special acknowledgement to the tireless efforts of the Nurses Home Health Aides and Chaplain of Cranberry Hospice and Palliative Care, who filled the last year and a half with kindness, care, love and laughter. I'm so sorry to hear of Eileen's passing. I hadn't realized John and Eileen had passed and just happened to google them today as I had a cute reminder on facebook from 10 years ago when Eileen had left me a Saint Patrick's Day gift. I lived across the street from them in Plymouth for a few years and they were the absolute sweetest neighbors. As a 20-something woman living alone I so appreciated their friendship and knowing that I had people across the street looking out for me. They even kept my pet fish alive during a storm where we lost power and they luckily had a generator.
I would always send Christmas cards as I was their fake Donahue relative and would drop in pre-covid if I happened to be back visiting Plymouth. I am lucky to have known them.

Sending my condolences. I have many fond memories of your mom. Your mom would mail me the Boston Globe on the day of each of my children's birth. I still have all four. Such a kind person with a great personality. Boy were you all blessed to have her as a mom!

I´m so sorry James! Your mom was a great woman! I always enjoyed bringing Jeremy down to see her and she loved it. Giving him sand dollars and sea glass while sitting out on the back porch. I´m glad I was able to bring Miya down to meet her! Miya loved how sassy she was. Always made people laugh and feel welcomed! She will be greatly missed!

To my Donahue cousins & their families,
Auntie Eileen was simply the best godmother ever. Although she had 6 children of her own, she never forgot a birthday, a sacrament or significant event in my life. Her thoughtfulness, kindness and generosity knew no bounds -- much like her sense of humor and silliness! Watching her and my mother work each other into fits of giggles that led to tears was truly a joy to behold. We're so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother. You're all in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Cousin Mary Ann & Family
