ELLEN MARIE HUTCHINSON

HUTCHINSON, Ellen Marie A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and devoted member of her church and community, passed away, on July 6, 2025, from complications related to cancer. She was 64. Born and raised in Beverly, Ellen graduated from Beverly High School in 1978, where she excelled both academically and athletically, earning varsity letters in field hockey and softball. A high achiever from the start, Ellen continued her education at Simmons College, graduating in 1982 with a dual degree in Economics and Government, along with departmental accolades for academic excellence. Ellen began her professional career as a Research Analyst at John Hancock, where her dedication and intellect quickly became evident. While working full time, she pursued a law degree at Suffolk University's evening program, earning her J.D. in 1988. That same year, she was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar. She went on to build a distinguished career in municipal taxation and real estate law, earning widespread respect and recognition for her legal skill and tenacity. In addition to her legal career, Ellen demonstrated her deep commitment to Beverly by serving as Chair of the Planning Board for many years. This role allowed her to contribute her professional expertise to the city she called home throughout her 64 years. Ellen is survived by her father, Fred Hutchinson and the late Joan (D'Amour) Hutchinson; siblings: Janice and Steve Wilkins of Salem, NH and their daughters: Kendra and Courtney, Sheryl Hutchinson and Ray Lundy of Flanders, NJ and their children: Kyle, Alanna, Julia, Kira and Lea, Fred and Lori Hutchinson of Salem, NH, and their children: Danielle and Tyler and Karen Hutchinson of Andover, MA and her children: Patrick and Collin. Ellen will be remembered for her unwavering faith, sharp mind, generous spirit and the boundless love she gave to all who were lucky enough to know her. We will miss her tremendously and look forward to the day when we are reunited again. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Saturday, July 12, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, BEVERLY, on Friday, July 11, from 4pm to 7pm. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Beverly.
