Emmett F. Glynn Sr.

Of Centerville, 78, architect, teacher, arbitrator died Nov. 3, 2005 after a long illness. He was the husband of Dorothea Glynn for 37 years. Mr. Glynn was Project Architect for many buildings in the Mass. area. He was Senior Associate with the internationally known firm of Hugh, Stubbins & Assoc. for 30 years. He was Project Architect of the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston; the renovation of the new Boston South Station, Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia and many other stadiums through out the United States. Mr. Glynn was past president of the C.S.I (Construction Specification Institute) of Boston; taught at the Boston Architectural Center for 18 years. He retired in 1991 to Cape Cod and immediately became involved in volunteer work in Centerville and Barnstable. He worked closely with the architectural firm that designed the new Senior Center in Hyannis, and was Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Barnstable for 7 years. He was active in local architectural projects until his death. Mr. Glynn is survived by his wife Dorothea, 4 children; Marguerite Forde, NY; Emmett Glynn Jr. IL; Thomas Glynn, FL; and John Glynn, IL. Also survived by 4 step-children Kathleen Baker Wallace, NY; Diane Baker-Pinell of MA; Mark E. Baker, VT; Thomas P. Baker, CA. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Monday November 7, 2005, from 4-8 PM, at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St. HYANNIS MA. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at 10:30 AM, at Our Lady Of Victory Catholic Church in Centerville MA followed by a burial at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville MA.
