I am sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Sweeney. I worked with him for many years at NEBH. I learned so much about care of the cardiac patient from him. He was always kind to me , even when i asked him silly questions!! My sincere condolences to his family. He was a gem!

When I started working as an ICU nurse at NEBH in 2014, Dr Sweeney was one of the most welcoming souls that I met. His friendly, caring calm demeanor and smile always brightened my day and alleviated any worry in his patients. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. May God give you the strength to to embark on the journey of saying goodbye and celebrating a most wonderful man.

I knew Dr Sweeney (a.k.a. Gerry ) for over 35 years as his patient,my client, and a friend. Not only was he a fabulous medical cardiologist, who truly cared about his patients, but he was also just such a wonderful human being. He literally saved my life when I had a massive coronary at age 40(I am now 76).He and his team worked on me for hours to save me! My family and I have always been and always will be eternally grateful to him! Gerry had a quiet way about him that allowed him to stay calm even if chaos was surrounding him. Even if one just received very bad news,I call always hear him say calmly and softly "Well, we have a problem here,so,let´s see what we can do about it"! He never seemed to get ruffled. He was an amazing family man who cared and loved deeply, who had a real special love for his grandchildren! Rest in peace my dear friend! You will be sorely missed by all of us!
