I am saddened to read of Pebble´s death. We were good friends at Madeira and roommates at Smith our freshman year. She was in my wedding in 1958. Although we had not been in touch for many years, I remember her fondly as a most intelligent woman and dear friend. My heartfelt sympathy to her family. Betsy Eells

Deep sympathy to Pebbles sons and daughters and all her family. She was truly a force to be reckoned with and added so much to the quality of our civic lives. She grabbed me and brought me into her circle of activism as soon as I came back from DC in the 80s. She was a loyal and supportive friend and a true hero. She is missed tremendously.

We were surprised and sorry to hear of Pebble's death. The last time we saw Pebble was Thanksgiving at Carolyn Tribe's house. She was still the Pebble we knew with lots to say and share. We are sure a part of Pebble is still in Harvard Square and she will be remembered for all the work she did to maintain the history and environment of the Square. We hope there will be a memorial in Harvard Square dedicated to the remembrance of Pebble.

A Harvard Square Celebration for Pebble, who introduced me to community activism and Priscilla McMillan over 35 years ago. A constant friend who is missed, but made a huge difference in the Republic of Cambridge.

It has been some time since I last saw or talked with Pebble. We were colleagues together in residential real estate sales for many years. I always admired her friendly demeanor, intelligence and energy.
As sad as it is to know that she has passed on, I am grateful for having known her. My deepest sympathies to her loved ones and friends.

Pebble had an astonishing gift for rescuing herself and anyone else from the most spectacular predicaments, the kind that would defeat those of us without her remarkable fortitude, her resilience, and her indomitable good humor. The little group of friends who accompanied her to Egypt some 20 years ago, among whom I was privileged to count myself, were truly awed at her ability to cope with anything from lost passports and credit cards, to hostile Moslem clerics, to general chaos and confusion. Pebble happily sailed through it all, unscathed and cheerful. I wish her a happy voyage onward-she will continue to find so much more to explore, to question, and to delight her. Bon voyage, chere amie!

Joe introduced me to Pebble in the mid-90s. She was already a legend, formidable and fun. As we organized and advocated in N. Cambridge for better quality of life on such issues as contamination, traffic, zoning, flooding, community and more, we were inspired by her work in Harvard Square. Her work and her leadership continue. Thank you, Pebble. Hoping there is comfort in your memories. Lisa & Joe
