JACQUELINE FARRELL

FARRELL, Jacqueline (Freitas) Of Hingham, formerly of Fall River, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at South Shore Hospital. Jackie was the beloved wife of Paul Farrell and the loving stepmother of Ann Marie Schembri and her husband, Frank and their children Kate and Elizabeth of Hingham. She is also survived by her sister Deborah Dean and her husband, John of Naples, Maine, her brother, William Freitas and his wife, Madeline of Westport, her niece, Meribah Dean and her husband, Chris Casali, her nephews, Jay Dean and William Freitas and his wife Becky. Jackie's career has been measured in moments and her impact has been both local and nation wide. She began her nursing career after graduation from the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to earn a BSN and MS from Boston University School of Nursing, and was certified as an adult medical nurse practitioner. She held a variety of positions including teaching at Boston University, but in March of 1975 she came to the VA Medical Center in Boston in the Associate Chief Nursing Service for Education Role, where she participated in a variety of local and national committees and in an advisory capacity to many of the medical center's affiliates. Among her many awards she was most proud of the "Excellence of Nursing Education Award" from the Massachusetts Nurses Association. A past president of the South Shore Country Club Women's Golf Association, she enjoyed playing golf with her husband and many friends. But most of all she enjoyed her role as grandmother to Kate and Elizabeth. We will miss her dearly. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul's Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Mt.
