JANET RAWDON Obituary

Rawdon, Janet Kathryn Passed away peacefully at home on March 7. She was born in Ohio to Ivan L. Peterson and Zada Mersereau Peterson. She earned a B.A. from Radcliffe College in 1956, an M.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 1962, and an M.L.S. from the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science in 1982. Prior to becoming a librarian, she taught elementary school in Ohio and Massachusetts. She was a school librarian for over twenty years, at both the Franklin and Lincoln-Eliot Elementary Schools in Newton, Massachusetts. After retirement she served as an adjunct professor at the Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science, supervising student interns in the school library media specialist program, and also volunteered at the Waban Library Center. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Peterson of Michigan; her children, Michael Rawdon of Mountain View, California and Katy Rawdon of Haddonfield, New Jersey; and her grandson Ivan Faucett, also of Haddonfield, New Jersey. She will be laid to rest at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A memorial service will be held in the Boston area; arrangements to be determined.
