JOHN CONNERTY Obituary

CONNERTY, John A., Jr. "Jack" 82, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at his residence. He has traveled on to be with his loving wife Dorothea who passed away on May 1, 2011. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 6 to 8 o'clock at St. Theresa the Little Flower Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11 o'clock at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Rite of Committal with Final Commendation will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Flowers will be accepted. Mr. Connerty was born January 6, 1934 in Cambridge, MA, son of the late John Connerty, Sr. and Anna Callahan Connerty. He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. In 1973, he transferred to the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where he retired. John was a devote Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight at Msgr. Richard District Deputy from 1980 to 1981. He also was appointed to District Deputy and elected Faithful Navigator. Survivors include two daughters and one son: Laura Halstead (Raymond) of Moncks Corner, Stephen Connerty of North Charleston and Dianna Connerty of Summerville; four grandchildren: Daniel Ward (Alice) of Cleveland, OH, Emily Ward of Summerville, Erik Connerty of North Charleston and Megan Connerty of Summerville, one great granddaughter: Ryleigh Hughes of Summerville; one sister and one brother: Frances Cosgrove (Joseph) and Paul Connerty and two nieces and two nephews. Oh Jack! I'm so sorry for your passing. You had a great life! You have been a true friend to me and to all of us in our own SUPSHIPCHASN as a family. You will be missed terribly. Also, with deepest condolences to the family of Jack. Until then, Jack, we shall meet again one day soon.
