JOHN GORDON Obituary

GORDON, John E. Of Randolph, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away June 2, 2015, after a valiant fight, at the age of 67. Fondly known as Flash and as Big Guy, he was born to Joseph and Betty Gordon in 1947. He graduated from Cathedral High School and Boston College. He joined the Army National Guard in 1970 and was later honorably discharged. John later worked as an auditor at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Rate Setting Commission. He married the beautiful Mary T. O'Connell in 1973. They were blessed with four loving children. He leaves his daughters, Teri Gordon and her loving companion Andy Allison of Las Vegas, Bernadette and her husband Philip Reyes of San Diego, Jennifer Gordon of Quincy, and his son Joseph Gordon and loving girlfriend Melissa Randon of Easton. He was an amazing grandfather to the late Sadie Marie Reyes and they are together again in heaven. John volunteered his time for the finance committee at St. Bernadette's Parish and was a co-founder for the elite Mitchell Street Martini Marching Society. He was always a phone call away for anyone who needed him. He will be remembered by the music he loved, the martinis he poured and the stories he told. His quick wit and loving heart made him an instant friend to all that had the pleasure of meeting him. The twinkle in his eye and smile will be missed by all. He left this world with the people he loved surrounding him?and his hair was perfect. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (Rt. 28) RANDOLPH, until 9:15 AM on Monday, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, 1026 No. Main St., Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph. Dear Mary and Family,
It's been 45 years since I first met Flash and between Cape Cod and NH the memories of our friendship and adventures remain vivid. He had a heart of gold and a party spirit to match. I just know he's scouting out the next Happy Hour for us in heaven. Our deepest sympathy to all his loved ones....he was taken all too soon and will be missed beyond words. RIP my friend.

Flash, a unique and great classmate (BC'70), friend, party-man, and usher in our wedding 45 years ago. A guy who lit up a room with his arrival is now lighting up heaven. Rest in peace John.
